# PhotoCraft HQ — full agent brief

Unofficial site. Canonical downloads: https://getartcraft.com/apps/photocraft and https://github.com/storytold/photocraft/releases.
Repo: https://github.com/storytold/photocraft. Version reference: v0.5.0. Early alpha.

## One-paragraph definition

PhotoCraft is an open-source, clean-room reimplementation of a Photoshop-style image editor in pure Rust by the ArtCraft team (storytold). It supports layers, masks, adjustment layers, type, vectors, brushes, and layered PSD/PSB. It runs natively on macOS, Windows, Linux, and can compile to WebAssembly. It is free, local-first, and still early alpha — not a full production Photoshop replacement yet.

## Agent automation

PhotoCraft exposes 500+ commands to UI, CLI, JSON control, and MCP (`photocraft-cli mcp`).
Headless example: photocraft-cli mcp --automation-read-root /work --automation-write-root /work
Bridge: run photocraft --control 7878, then photocraft-cli mcp --bridge 127.0.0.1:7878
Tools include doc_open, doc_save, doc_inspect, doc_render_preview, command_run, command_batch.

- Full UI: Curves + caption card: Official repo live plate: Curves panel open, styled caption card, Vibrance/Curves layers. (/examples/demo-ui.jpg)
- Adjustments & histogram: Non-destructive adjustments with live histogram — cleaner product-page crop. (/examples/adjustments.jpg)
- Layer styles & type: Editable type with layer styles from the official screenshot set. (/examples/layer-styles.jpg)
- Selections & masks: On-device selection/mask workflow (not a cloud AI cutout app). (/examples/masks.jpg)
- Type tool full UI: Full app chrome — proves layered document editing, not a filter sticker app. (/examples/type-ui.jpg)

Agent task themes: Title card: type, layer styles, render preview | Color grade: Levels / Curves / Vibrance stacks | Folder batch: photocraft-cli batch + actions JSON | MCP: doc_open → command_run → doc_save (Claude / Cursor / etc.)
